PURCHASING AGENT

JOB SUMMARY The materials management Purchasing Agent is responsible for the day-to-day acquisitions of goods and services, communicates with customers and end users, and identifies trades related to items and services that require analysis and/or negotiation.
Additionally, the materials management Purchasing Agent will provide operational expertise in the areas of inventory optimization, receiving, and use of the hospital's inventory system for all SJMH departments and offsite locations.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Education Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in business, finance, accounting, or a clinical field.
Extensive experience in purchasing (preferably in a hospital setting) may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Professional association membership in AHRMM, ISM or equivalent preferred.
Licensure and Certifications Experience Past purchasing experience strongly preferred.
2-4 years related work experience in Procurement or Finance preferred.
Experience working with spreadsheets required.
Experience with inventory management, perpetual inventories, setting reorder points, par leveling, etc.

A strong overall knowledge of expense management.
Knowledge of hospital operations.
Knowledge of medical/surgical supplies.
Knowledge of perpetual inventory systems.
Proficiency in all MS Office applications, email, databases, web research and ability to troubleshoot computer-related problems as well as other administrative experience and competence.
Knowledge of the hospital's inventory system Strong internet search skills Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
High level of analytical ability necessary to analyze product lines, evaluate new product opportunities, and prepare market studies and provides the necessary support for the introduction or modification of products and/or services.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required.
Must have advanced interpersonal skills necessary to interact regularly with internal and external clients to discuss product purchases.
Strong organizational skills and detail/deadline-oriented.
Strong independent initiative and follow-through.
Ability to multi-task as well as to prioritize multiple projects and quickly change direction and focus.
Recommended Skills Accounting Administration Analytical Clinical Works Communication Coordinating Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
